Castle School is an excellent village primary school, of which the whole village should feel proud. The atmosphere, environment and quality of teaching and learning make the school a fantastic experience for everyone involved. The school spends a great deal of time building self-esteem and a positive attitude to learning. Castle School does not limit itself to achieving high standards in tests but aims to equip children with a love of learning, to respect individuals, to think and to question.

There is a role for any member of the village to play in this development. The School welcomes interested members of the village to get on board and help. If you are interested please contact the School.

Stanchester Academy is a co-educational, comprehensive 11 – 16 school with approximately 900 students on the roll, situated on the eastern edge of the Stoke. The students who attend Stanchester are largely drawn from the surrounding villages. However, the catchment area is large – from Ilchester to South Petherton and from West Chinnock to Ash.

We offer an excellent environment in which our students can excel. We have a sports centre, floodlit tennis courts, a cricket wicket, 9 acres of playing fields, hard play areas and gardens. Our whole site is surrounded by open countryside which provides excellent opportunities for environmental studies and fieldwork.

The school is also extensively used for adult education, with classes in food hygiene, computers, painting and drawing and French conversation.
